Join a dedicated Emergency Department team in Elmira, New York, within a large facility featuring 48 treatment spaces. This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide critical care during night shifts, serving a diverse patient population requiring urgent medical attention.
The successful candidate will manage a patient ratio of 1:5, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care in a fast-paced environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vital healthcare service, providing essential support during overnight hours.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, including comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care for emergency patients.
Administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with procedures as per physician orders and hospital policy.
Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other physiological data, responding to changes appropriately and promptly.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, other nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
Document all patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record system.
Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions to promote understanding and adherence.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff within the Emergency Department.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Demonstrated experience in an Emergency Department setting.
Ability to effectively manage a 1:5 patient ratio.
