Job Summary
Community Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed critical-access facility located in Hamilton, New York, is seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment. This hospital is a cornerstone of primary and specialty care, serving a population of approximately 45,000 across Madison, Onondaga, Chenango, and Oneida Counties.
The Emergency Department is a 10-bed unit that manages a diverse patient population presenting with conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) exacerbations, syncope, non-ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (non-STEMI), Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), various wound issues, and post-surgical care including Total Hip Replacement (THR), Total Knee Replacement (TKR), lumbar surgery, and general surgery cases, as well as COVID-19 related illnesses. The unit maintains a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1, ensuring focused patient care in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a fast-paced Emergency Room setting.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and implement appropriate nursing interventions for a wide range of medical and surgical emergencies.
- Manage acute and chronic conditions including cardiac events, respiratory distress, metabolic imbalances, and trauma.
- Administer medications, perform wound care, and assist with procedures as required.
- Utilize the Sorian Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Ability to commit to a 13-week contract for 12-hour night shifts.
- Willingness to adhere to a 50-mile radius rule for travel assignments; local candidates are also considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
- Prior experience with Sorian EMR system.
