Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities.
The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury and the alleviation of suffering.
The RN engages in the diagnosis and treatment of human responses through advocacy in the care of individuals and families.
The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development.
The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients.
The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse when designated by unit assignment.
The RN considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost, and impact in their practice.
The RN educates patients and families in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to policy.
The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization.
The RN complies with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
The RN actively participates in and supports professional governance and improvement initiatives.
The RN actively engages in professional development and completes all mandatory education requirements.
The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
The RN may perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned.
The RN may assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
