Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• Conduct primary assessment and prioritize care based on Triage Standards
• Use clinical skills in invasive and non-invasive emergency procedures
• Build rapport and communicate effectively with patients and families
• Ensure documentation accuracy and comply with infection prevention strategies
• Educate patients and families for post-emergency care

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• One-year acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
• Two years of experience in the Emergency Department
• Valid NYS RN Licensure
