Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required License: CA state license required; pending license not accepted Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC Must-Have: Experience in care of multiple patient conditions, including but not limited to abdominal pain, asthma, trauma, drug overdose, and respiratory infections. Description: The position is in the Emergency Department. The nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients. Travelers will cover the Observation Unit, which includes ER hold patients. The average daily census is 105 patients. The emergency department has 20 rooms and 26 beds. Patient ratios are typically 4:1. Staff may be required to float if necessary. The job involves a variety of patient care situations, including mental/behavioral health conditions, seizures, and trauma. The nurse will work with an interdisciplinary team to support patient needs. Some specific skills required include intubation, charting experience with Epic, and management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction. The commitment includes working weekends as required. Travelers must be willing to work during major holidays. Two references covering relevant experience are required before starting the role. The hospital provides essential interdisciplinary support from various services. The nurse must be adaptable and ready to encounter a range of patient presentations.
