We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) for a contract assignment in Mauston, Wisconsin. This role is integral to the surgical team, providing advanced intraoperative assistance to surgeons across various specialties.
The RNFA will collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes by assisting with exposure, hemostasis, and closure during surgical procedures. This position requires a commitment to patient safety, adherence to hospital policies, and the ability to thrive within a dynamic operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the surgical team in preparing and organizing sterile supplies, instruments, equipment, and drapes for surgical procedures.
Aid in patient positioning to ensure safety and optimal surgical access.
Provide visualization of the operative site and assist with hemostasis using appropriate techniques.
Assist the surgeon with closure of body planes and application of wound dressings.
Support the insertion and securement of drainage systems to tissue.
Safely operate and manage surgical equipment, including pneumatic tourniquets, electrocautery, and endoscopy equipment.
Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to maintain a sterile field and ensure procedural efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program or other recognized first-assisting education program.
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of operating room/surgical experience.
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in surgical assisting techniques (exposure, hemostasis, closure).
Competency in preparing and managing sterile fields and surgical instrumentation.
