Job Summary
This role is for a dedicated Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) located in Salmon, Idaho. The Medical-Surgical RN provides comprehensive direct patient care to individuals recovering from various illnesses, injuries, and surgical procedures within a dynamic hospital environment.
The successful candidate will coordinate treatment plans, ensure high-quality nursing services, and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This position emphasizes patient-centered care, requiring strong clinical judgment and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with hospital policies and nursing scope of practice.
Administer medications, treatments, and intravenous (IV) therapy as prescribed.
Monitor and interpret vital signs, patient symptoms, and progress, promptly reporting any significant changes.
Develop and coordinate individualized patient care plans, adjusting as necessary based on patient outcomes and needs.
Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and ensure continuity of care.
Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and effective health management strategies.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care services in the electronic health record (EMR).
Ensure strict compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and all relevant regulatory guidelines.
Assist patients with post-operative recovery, chronic illness management, and acute care interventions.
Respond effectively to medical emergencies and coordinate immediate interventions with the healthcare team.
Establish a compassionate and supportive environment, providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to nursing assistants, ESTs, and Unit Clerks as appropriate.
Act as a professional role model, mentor, and resource for peers and other providers.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
Ability to obtain and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Idaho or approved compact state licensure.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Prior experience in a Medical-Surgical setting.
Skills & Competencies
Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills in all phases of the nursing process.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with diverse patient populations and healthcare teams.
Proficiency in administering medications, IV therapy, and monitoring vital signs.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
