Job Summary

This role is for a dedicated Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) located in Salmon, Idaho. The Medical-Surgical RN provides comprehensive direct patient care to individuals recovering from various illnesses, injuries, and surgical procedures within a dynamic hospital environment.

The successful candidate will coordinate treatment plans, ensure high-quality nursing services, and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This position emphasizes patient-centered care, requiring strong clinical judgment and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with hospital policies and nursing scope of practice.
• Administer medications, treatments, and intravenous (IV) therapy as prescribed.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs, patient symptoms, and progress, promptly reporting any significant changes.
• Develop and coordinate individualized patient care plans, adjusting as necessary based on patient outcomes and needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and ensure continuity of care.
• Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, discharge instructions, and effective health management strategies.
• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care services in the electronic health record (EMR).
• Ensure strict compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and all relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Assist patients with post-operative recovery, chronic illness management, and acute care interventions.
• Respond effectively to medical emergencies and coordinate immediate interventions with the healthcare team.
• Establish a compassionate and supportive environment, providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families.
• Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to nursing assistants, ESTs, and Unit Clerks as appropriate.
• Act as a professional role model, mentor, and resource for peers and other providers.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Idaho or approved compact state licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Prior experience in a Medical-Surgical setting.
