Shifts are from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Guaranteed hours are 48 per week. The unit has 39 beds with a patient ratio of 1:4. Staff includes one unit secretary and 2-3 techs. Equipment used includes crash carts, level one equipment, Alaris pumps, and Dash bedside cardiac monitors. Documentation is completed using a specific documentation system. Scheduling is handled with a 4-week schedule posted two weeks prior to the start date. The policy allows for floating within the emergency room. Patient rounding is expected from 30 minutes to 1 hour. Candidates must be able to assist with intubation and emergency lifesaving procedures. Common procedures include chest tubes, moderate sedation, laceration repair, and blood products. Dress code requires black scrubs.
