Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health.
Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary.
Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
Triage patients effectively to prioritize care based on severity of illness or injury.
Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies.
Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators.
Work closely with healthcare team members to coordinate care.
Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families.
Adhere to protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Participate in continuing education and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)

Current RN license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in an emergency department setting.
Must have 2 years of previous travel experience.
