Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional health.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed.
  • Monitor and document patient responses to care and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Provide education to patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Triage patients effectively to prioritize care based on severity of illness or injury.
  • Assist in resuscitation, stabilization, and advanced life support procedures during emergencies.
  • Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including defibrillators, monitors, and ventilators.
  • Work closely with healthcare team members to coordinate care.
  • Communicate patient status, changes, and care plans clearly to team members and families.
  • Adhere to protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Participate in continuing education and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
  • Current RN license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an emergency department setting.
  • Must have 2 years of previous travel experience.
