Description:
The emergency room consists of 18 beds with fast track staffed by mid-levels and LVNs.
Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS.
Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 to 4, with ICU patients being 1 to 2.
The electronic medical record system used is Cerner.
A Charge Nurse will oversee the shift, supported by a resource nurse.
Emergency Department Technicians will assist, comprising EMTs or aides from other units.
Weekend requirements include 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule, with weekends being Friday/Saturday for nights and Saturday/Sunday for days.
Holidays include 1 major and 1 minor holiday.
Scrub color must be navy blue, including scrub jackets and undershirts, which may be navy, white, or black.
Telemonitoring equipment used is Phillips.
Ventilator support is available.
Clientists or intensivists are available onsite.
There is no dedicated IV team.
Respiratory therapy is available 24/7.
Pharmacy services are also available 24/7, utilizing an Omnicell system.
Shifts are organized over 4-week schedules without block scheduling.
Floating may occur between two facilities; prior notice of 2 hours will be given if floated before a shift.
Mid-shift floating may also happen, with facilities located close to each other.
Orientation consists of 2 shifts at the primary campus and 1 shift at the other campus.
Common patient demographics include a lower pediatric population, and care involves handling correctional patients.
Additional patient types include homeless and indigent individuals.
All obstetric cases are transferred to another facility.
No cardiac patients are treated, as they are stabilized and transferred out.
Candidates must prioritize this position as their primary job and maintain open availability.
Cancellation policy allows for the possibility of up to 4 shifts canceled during the assignment.
Charting will be performed using the Cerner system.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is not required.
This position is for those who thrive in a teamwork-oriented environment.
The emergency room typically treats between 85 - 115 patients daily, averaging around 100 patients per day.
