Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse

Job Summary

North Country Hospital, a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Newport, Vermont, is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses for its Labor & Delivery unit.

This role provides comprehensive care to expectant mothers, new mothers, and newborns across the labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery units.

The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility, including the ability to float to other units and manage overflow from the Progressive Care Unit as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert nursing care to patients throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum phases.
  • Deliver comprehensive postpartum care to mothers, promoting recovery and well-being.
  • Perform newborn assessments and provide care in the nursery, ensuring infant health and safety.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs, progression of labor, and respond to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, initiate IVs, and perform treatments as prescribed.
  • Educate patients and their families on childbirth, breastfeeding, infant care, and postpartum recovery.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by floating to other units and assisting with Progressive Care Unit overflow as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in Labor & Delivery, Post-Partum, or Nursery.
  • Ability to float to other units, including Progressive Care Unit.
