Must-Have:
All previous permanent employees of any affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position.
First-time travelers are not accepted.
Traveler must be open to floating to different campuses.
Weekends are required: Every Other Weekend.
Description:
Typical emergency department patients include adults and pediatrics.
Responsibilities include ambulance triage, ED holding, and lobby triage.
The unit has 11 hallway beds and a total of 40 beds.
Common procedures involve breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, procedure sedation, and rapid sequence intubation drugs.
Other tasks include tracheostomy care, ventilator management, blood/blood products administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling and warming blanket usage, continuous renal replacement therapy, dialysis, and obtaining 12 lead EKGs.
Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities.
Refusal to float may result in termination of assignment.
Daily census in the unit is approximately 115 patients.
The unit serves neonates, adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics.
Interdisciplinary support is available, including respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
Travelers must request all time off and specific scheduling requests upfront.
Travelers must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays.
References covering 1 year within the last 3 years are required.
