Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Travel Registered Nurse specializing in Long-Term Care (LTC) for an assignment in Sitka, Alaska. This role involves providing comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to individuals across the lifespan who are managing acute, chronic, and post-operative conditions, with a focus on geriatric and dementia care.

The successful candidate will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring high-quality, culturally sensitive services. This position requires strong clinical assessment skills, independent nursing judgment, and effective collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and safety in a dynamic long-term care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.
• Implement and evaluate nursing interventions, recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to provider orders and facility policy.
• Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs.
• Exercise independent nursing judgment in determining appropriate nursing actions, interventions, and priorities.
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of services.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Advocate for patient care and assist patients in navigating the healthcare system.
• Practice within the nursing scope of practice and adhere to regulatory, safety, and infection prevention requirements.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
• Maintain required competencies and certifications.
• Provide appropriate guidance and delegation to ancillary staff.
• Support orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers.
• Float to other departments or assignments as needed to support facility operations.

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Geriatric and dementia care experience.

Licensing Requirements

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Alaska.
