Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Travel Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week assignment at York Hospital in York, Maine. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic Emergency Department team, providing critical care to a diverse patient population.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting. This includes managing acute and chronic conditions, performing rapid assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and stabilization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of medical and traumatic emergencies.
  • Conduct rapid and accurate patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
  • Implement and evaluate patient care plans, administering medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patient conditions, interpret diagnostic tests, and document all patient interactions and interventions accurately.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and continuous patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of recent experience as an Emergency Room RN.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Previous experience in a charge nurse or preceptor role.
Skills & Competencies
  • Proficiency in emergency assessment, triage, and intervention techniques.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure.
  • Competency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Shift Details
  • Shift Type: Day/Evening rotation (12-hour shifts)
  • Shift Schedule: 3 shifts per week, totaling 36 hours.
  • Typical Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM. Shift times may vary based on departmental needs and patient census.
  • Call Requirements: No call required.
  • Weekend Rotation: Not specified.
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks.
  • Anticipated Start Date: August 10, 2026.
Licensing Requirements
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maine.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
