Job Summary
Join a dynamic Emergency Department team at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This high-acuity unit features 64 beds, including dedicated areas for Triage, Acute Care, Super Track, Trauma, Clinical Decision Unit (CDU), and Psychiatric patients. As a travel RN, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive, life-saving care to a diverse patient population ranging from newborns and pediatrics to adults and geriatrics.
The unit frequently manages complex cases such as Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction (MI), Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure. You will be expected to utilize advanced clinical skills and specialized equipment in a fast-paced environment, ensuring optimal patient outcomes across all acuity levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to a broad patient population, including newborns, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients, presenting with various emergent conditions.
- Manage and stabilize patients experiencing critical diagnoses such as Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, MI, Cardiac Arrest, and Respiratory Failure.
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment, including Rapid Infusors and Arctic Sun devices.
- Deliver comprehensive care to all assigned patients, including those requiring Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services.
- Float to other units within the facility as required by patient census and facility needs.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Emergency Department (ED) setting.
- Demonstrated experience providing care to pediatric patients within an ED environment.
- Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
- Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience and demonstrated capability in a Charge Nurse role.

Shift Details
- Shift Type: Night Shift (NOC)
- Hours: 48 hours per week
- Shift Duration: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (12.5-hour shifts)
- Days per week: Scheduled to meet the 48-hour weekly requirement (typically 4 shifts).

- Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements
- Active New York (NY) Registered Nurse (RN) License.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (must be current and in hand).
