We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Operating Room (OR) procedures for a 13-week contract assignment in Ithaca, New York. This role offers an opportunity to provide high-quality perioperative care within an acute care hospital setting.
The successful candidate will be an integral part of the surgical team, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert clinical practice, critical thinking, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals. You will be responsible for patient safety and comprehensive care throughout the surgical experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and indirect patient care in the operating room, including circulating and/or scrubbing for various surgical procedures.
Assess patient status, develop individualized care plans, and implement nursing interventions in the perioperative phase.
Maintain a sterile field and ensure adherence to aseptic techniques and surgical protocols.
Monitor patient physiological responses during surgery, including vital signs, anesthesia effects, and potential complications.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Accurately document all aspects of patient care, interventions, and outcomes.
Collaborate effectively with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe surgical procedures.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient and family education.
