Job Summary
Join our dedicated nursing team as an Obstetrics Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital setting located in Machias, Maine. This role involves providing comprehensive, holistic, and individualized care to a diverse patient population within the OB unit, encompassing antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and post-operative gynecological patients.
The successful candidate will independently utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, demonstrating strong clinical judgment and a commitment to quality. This position requires adherence to established nursing standards and hospital policies, while fostering a collaborative environment with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide holistic and individualized patient care across the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery, and post-operative gynecological spectrum.
- Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse.
- Demonstrate clinical competency and sound nursing judgment in all aspects of patient care.
- Perform general and unit-specific clinical skills independently.
- Educate patients and families effectively regarding their care plans and health management.
- Adhere strictly to all Standards of Nursing Practice and hospital policies, including confidentiality, patient rights, and safety protocols.
- Manage and maintain unit supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Promote and contribute to a positive, collaborative, and professional team environment with physicians and other hospital personnel.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of one (1) year of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
- COVID-19 vaccination required per state mandate.
