We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse to join a rural community hospital in Kealakekua, Hawaii. This role is integral to providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers, newborns, and postpartum patients in a supportive environment.
The successful candidate will manage laboring patients, assist with deliveries, provide immediate postpartum care, and perform neonatal care within the nursery, emphasizing couplet care. The unit averages 45-50 deliveries per month, offering a consistent yet manageable patient volume.
This position requires proficiency in intermediate to advanced fetal monitoring and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. While primarily focused on L&D, the role may involve floating to assist other departments, though not as a primary nurse.
Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients.
Perform neonatal care in the nursery and facilitate couplet care, ensuring the well-being of both mother and infant.
Monitor fetal well-being using intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring techniques.
Assist physicians during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum periods.
Educate patients and families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for mothers and infants.
Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare team members.
May assume charge nurse duties as assigned.
Provide support to other departments as needed, without serving as a primary nurse.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
Experience in Nursery care and Couplet Care.
Proficiency in intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring.
