Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a community hospital Emergency Department treating an average of 40–50 patients per day, ranging from minor injuries to major traumas, crush injuries, burns, STEMIs, and strokes
Mix and titrate critical drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Epinephrine, Insulin, and others independently
Read and interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; manage respiratory equipment and assist with respiratory treatments
Maintain a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio across a 5-bed, 2-trauma-bay department with 1 dedicated triage nurse
Collaborate with ED physicians, ED Techs (CNAs), respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, and a 24/7 in-house House Supervisor to ensure efficient patient throughput and flow
Assist with EMS coordination and support department flow; travelers are not required to serve in a charge nurse role
Required Qualifications
Active RN license with a minimum of 5 years of Emergency Department experience
Demonstrated ability to independently mix and titrate critical drips
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility with scheduling, including willingness to help fill gaps in the permanent staff schedule
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with industrial or occupational trauma cases such as crush injuries, burns, and amputations
Prior travel nursing experience (first-time travelers also accepted)
Familiarity with a broad range of imaging modalities including X-ray, CT, ultrasound, and MRI coordination
