Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in a fast-paced emergency department setting.
Administer medications safely and consistently in accordance with state practice standards and organizational policies and procedures.
Serve as the primary point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments, collaborating with physicians, registration, lab, and radiology staff on site.
Manage ACLS drips as needed and operate Alaris IV pumps; assist physicians with intubation setup and manage transport ventilators, as respiratory therapy is not on site.
Apply emergency nursing practice across the full lifespan, including medical illness, trauma, pediatric, gerontologic, mental health, and life- and limb-saving interventions.
Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and model core safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and ensure a safe care environment.
Required Qualifications
Current RN license in the state of practice or covered by compact licensure.
Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, with emergency department experience within the last 5 years strongly required.
Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required; local candidates are not accepted for this position.
BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications required.
Ability to pass a Dysrhythmia exam (study guide available upon placement).
Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Health Record system.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) or ENPC certification preferred.
Experience caring for urban patient populations, including those from low socioeconomic backgrounds.
Familiarity with lifesaving equipment such as hypothermia devices, hands-free CPR devices, rapid infusers, and invasive monitoring.
