Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in a fast-paced emergency department setting
Administer medications safely and manage critical care drips including insulin, sedation, and inotropic agents in accordance with applicable standards and policies
Operate and monitor equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitoring systems, bladder scanners, and portable suction devices; manage lines and devices including IVs, CVCs, Foleys, trachs, G-tubes, NG/OG tubes, and EJs
Serve as the point of contact for patient care coordination across hospital departments, collaborating with ED techs, HUCs, respiratory therapy, EMS, and outside agencies as needed
Apply emergency nursing practice across the lifespan including medical illness, trauma, pediatric care, gerontologic care, mental health, and life- and limb-saving interventions
Participate in ongoing quality improvement initiatives and model core safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and ensure a safe care environment
Required Qualifications
Current RN license in the state of practice or covered by compact licensure
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; 3+ years preferred
Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required
Active PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification required
NIHSS and CPI certifications required; dysrhythmia exam required prior to start (study guide available)
Ultrasound-guided IV placement experience preferred
Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
