Job Title

Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER/ED Float)

Location

Garden City, KS (Float Zone – travel within a 60-mile radius required)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite | Every other weekend and holiday required

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in Emergency Room/ED settings across multiple facilities within a defined regional float zone covering a 60-mile radius
  • Assess, monitor, and care for patients presenting with common ER diagnoses including abdominal pain, diabetes, NSTEMI, pneumonia, trauma, stroke, and hypertension
  • Independently read and interpret telemetry monitoring without the support of a monitor technician
  • Perform and document Point of Care lab testing as trained
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, physicians, mid-level providers, respiratory therapy, and support staff including techs and EMTs
  • Adapt to varying patient volumes, acuity levels, and facility layouts across assigned float locations within the zone
Required Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Kansas
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of Emergency Room/ED nursing experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications required
  • Ability and willingness to float throughout all facilities within the assigned 60-mile regional zone
  • Must be present in-state during the week of orientation
  • Valid driver's license required; housing must be obtained to support full zone float requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Experience working in rural or critical access emergency department settings
  • Familiarity with standard ER medication drips and protocols
  • Comfort working in facilities with varying resources, bed counts, and support staff configurations
