Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every Other Weekend and Holiday

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions and plans of care, including triage protocols upon patient arrival and ongoing reassessment throughout the care continuum.
  • Safely administer medications, intravenous therapy, vasoactive medications, and thrombolytic/anticoagulation therapy in accordance with physician orders, protocols, and established policies and procedures.
  • Perform accurate and timely identification of cardiac arrhythmias; interpret arterial blood gases, pulse oximetry, and clinical indicators of impaired gas exchange.
  • Identify patients at risk for abuse or violent behavior and initiate appropriate safety plans, mandated reporting, and non-violent intervention protocols as required.
  • Provide thorough and accurate documentation of assessments, therapeutic interventions, patient responses, medication reconciliation, and forensic evidence collection per policy.
  • Collaborate with the health care team to plan and prepare patients and families for discharge, ensuring continuity of care and integration of support resources.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Massachusetts.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required upon hire or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • 3–5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and/or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) designation preferred.
