    Job Summary

    Join a dedicated team in Juneau, Alaska, as a Registered Nurse providing essential patient care within an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) setting. This role is with a non-profit health consortium committed to serving the health interests of Southeast Alaska residents.

    The Registered Nurse will deliver professional, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered nursing care across the lifespan, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient outcomes. Key responsibilities include comprehensive medication management specific to OTP services, maintaining medication inventory, and ensuring compliance with quality control checks for point-of-care testing.

    This position requires close collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, enhance safety, and foster a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing daily medication room operations, including opening and closing procedures, and will contribute to efficient resource utilization while upholding professional nursing standards.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide professional nursing care, including comprehensive patient assessments and individualized care plan development.
    • Administer OTP medications and other treatments safely and accurately according to provider orders and organizational policy.
    • Implement and evaluate nursing interventions, recognizing changes in patient condition and initiating appropriate responses or escalation of care.
    • Manage daily medication room operations, including opening and closing procedures, medication inventory, and supply maintenance.
    • Perform and ensure completion of required quality control checks for point-of-care testing.
    • Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge planning.
    • Collaborate effectively with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care, facilitate referrals, and ensure continuity of services.
    • Document all patient care, assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
    • Practice within the nursing scope of practice, adhering to regulatory, safety, and infection prevention requirements.
    • Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.
    • Provide appropriate guidance and delegation to ancillary staff.
    • Support the orientation, mentoring, and education of staff, students, and peers.
    • Float to other departments or assignments as needed based on organizational requirements.
    Required Qualifications
    • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
    • Completion of SEARHC Clinical Competency Assessment within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
    • Completion of SEARHC High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and annually thereafter.
    • Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC) may be required based on practice area and experience level. These must be obtained within six months of hire for new graduates or those new to a specialty, or be current at the time of hire for experienced nurses entering their specialty.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Experience in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) or Substance Use Disorder (SUD) setting.

    Shift Details
    • Shift Type: Day Shift
    • Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM; Saturday, 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM (rotational).
    • Days per Week: 5-6 days, including rotational Saturdays.
    • Weekend Rotation: Required Saturday shifts (7:00 AM - 10:00 AM). Sundays are closed.
    • Holiday Hours: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM.
    • Medicating Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM; Saturday, 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM.
    • Admission Hours: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM (or as scheduled).
    • Call Requirements: Not specified.
    • Contract Length: 1 week.
    • Start Date: September 2, 2026.
    Licensing Requirements
    • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Alaska State Board of Nursing.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
