Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

Key Responsibilities- Provide emergency nursing care for patients of all ages (neonates to elderly), managing ESI levels 1–5 with a typical patient ratio of 4–5:1
- Assess and triage patients quickly; perform clinical skills including PIV placement, NG/OG tube insertion, foley catheterization, wound care, and splint/OCL application
- Assist with arterial line, central line, and chest tube placement; mix medication drips using vial-to-bag adapters on night shift
- Care for high-acuity patients including stroke, STEMI, trauma, and sepsis presentations in a Level III Trauma Center, ACC Chest Pain/STEMI Center, and Joint Commission Acute Ready Stroke Center
- Ensure completion of appropriate EMTALA paperwork per regulatory and facility policy guidelines; make placement calls for psychiatric patients boarding in the ED on nights and weekends
- Participate in department float rotation to other units as needed; willingness to assist with precepting new staff is required (not immediately)
Required Qualifications- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience
- Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications
- Proficiency in triage, PIV, port access/de-access, foley placement, NG/OG placement, wound care, and splint/OCL application
- Familiarity with MEDHOST EDIS EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience with ultrasound-guided IV placement
- Prior experience as a preceptor or charge nurse in an emergency department setting
