Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Rotating Shifts (Days 7a–7p, Mids 11–11 & 12–12, Nights 7p–7a) | Onsite | Every 3rd weekend required | 2 holidays per year (1 winter, 1 summer)
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a Level I/Trauma-capable Emergency Department managing adult and pediatric populations across 33 beds and 2 trauma bays
Manage a patient assignment of up to 4 patients, including ER holds for admission intermixed within the department
Perform nurse draws for approximately 95% of lab orders and complete EKGs alongside ED Techs
Monitor cardiac telemetry for assigned patients via nurses' station monitors; all rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including ED physicians, mid-level providers, respiratory therapy, and in-house security
Float only within the pediatric ED as needed; no floating to inpatient units
Required Qualifications
Active RN licensure
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, and PALS
Minimum prior Emergency Department experience required
Proficiency or ability to quickly adapt to Epic EMR
Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Candidates may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
A valid driver's license is required at time of submittal and will be used to verify the 50-mile radius requirement
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; compliance with this policy is required for contract continuation
Candidates must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
Experience caring for trauma, sepsis, CVA, and pediatric emergency patients
Familiarity with ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high-flow oxygen equipment in an ED setting
