Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department serving patients ranging from newborns to the elderly across a wide spectrum of acuity levels
Manage and titrate a variety of critical drips including vasopressors, cardiac drips, and antihypertensive medications
Recognize and respond to life-threatening cardiac rhythms and initiate appropriate interventions in collaboration with the care team
Care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay to department pods, as well as stroke, cardiac, and critically ill patient populations
Draw and collect lab specimens as required; collaborate with ED techs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and house supervisors to support department operations
Adhere to department scheduling requirements including every-other-weekend rotation and holiday coverage as determined by department needs
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Current ENPC or PALS certification required
Current TNCC or TNS certification required
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 prior travel assignment
Proficiency in vasopressor and critical drip titration and the ability to independently interpret and act on cardiac monitor rhythms
Preferred Experience / Skills
SANE RN experience preferred
Prior experience working in a teaching hospital with resident physicians preferred
Familiarity with Philips cardiac monitoring systems a plus
