Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, 65-bed Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department serving patients ranging from newborns to elderly with a wide variety of acuity levels, including critically ill patients, strokes, cardiac arrests, and heart attacks
• Manage and titrate a wide variety of drips including vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, including recognition and response to life-threatening arrhythmias using Philips monitoring systems
• Draw and collect labs in coordination with ED techs; collaborate with respiratory therapy on ventilator and airway equipment management
• Care for stabilized trauma patients transferred from the trauma bay to a pod setting; support charge nurses and specialized trauma team as needed
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–5 based on acuity, with support from ED techs, charge nurses, and a 24/7 house supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• ENPC or PALS certification required
• TNCC or TNS certification required
• Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility is a drug-free campus
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local pay rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience
• At least one prior travel nursing assignment
• SANE RN experience
• Prior experience working in a teaching hospital with residents
