GI Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled GI Endoscopy Registered Nurse for a dynamic role within an acute care hospital setting in Elmira, New York. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to both outpatients and inpatients undergoing various gastrointestinal and endoscopic procedures.
The successful candidate will be a professional caregiver responsible for the full scope of the nursing process, from assessment and planning to implementation and evaluation of patient care. This role requires a strong focus on patient safety, education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in the Endoscopy unit.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient assessments, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status for GI/Endoscopy patients.
Develop and implement individualized plans of care based on identified nursing diagnoses and expected patient outcomes.
Provide direct patient care during pre-procedure, intra-procedure, and post-procedure phases for endoscopic interventions.
Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage patient comfort and safety during procedures.
Educate patients and their significant others on procedures, post-procedure care, and discharge instructions.
Document all aspects of patient care accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner within the electronic health record.
Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and adjust the plan of care as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
Respond efficiently and calmly to emergency patient situations, adhering to established protocols.
Adhere to all Medical Center, Division of Nursing, and unit-specific policies and procedures, including safety guidelines.
Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesiologists, technicians, and other healthcare team members.
Participate in staff development activities and maintain current knowledge of nursing practice and GI Endoscopy advancements.
Demonstrate accountability for professional practice and ethical decision-making in patient care.
Required Qualifications
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Relevant clinical experience in Endoscopy or Operating Room with demonstrated Endoscopy training/experience.
Ability to work effectively with both inpatient and outpatient populations.

Call Requirements: Required, typically once per week and every 6th weekend. Flexibility to switch call with team members as needed, ensuring continuous coverage.
Weekend Rotation: Every 6th weekend.
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Assignment Dates: August 23, 2026 - November 21, 2026
Licensing Requirements
Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
