Job Title: Registered Nurse

Experience: 2 years of recent experience in recovering sedated GI and pulmonary procedures
License: RN License required
Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CGRN (preferred)
Must-Have:
Must have experience performing Moderate Sedation in procedures.
Must be able to perform pre/post all levels of care including PACU/Phase I and Phase II recovery.
Must have recent experience in recovering sedated GI procedures such as ERCP, EUS, EGD, Colonoscopy, and endoscopy/Bronchoscopy.
Level 1 Trauma center or similar size hospital experience is required.
Epic charting system experience is required.
Description:
Provide care for patients during GI and Bronchoscopy procedures including the administration of sedation.
Be an integral part of a surgical team that performs multispecialty procedures.
Assume overall responsibility for management of the operating room assigned.
Utilize an RN-driven assessment approach to sedation.
Patients are managed within a targeted sedation range based on their Ramsay Sedation Scale score.
Monitor and recover patients after sedation, ensuring safety and comfort.
Ensure adherence to established protocols and patient safety measures.
Float to various units as needed based on staffing requirements.
Participate in call requirements during weeknights as needed.
Remain flexible to stay past the end of the shift to finish the day's schedule.
Demonstrate proficiency in administering conscious sedation and managing airway.
Coordinate with the surgical team to facilitate smooth operations during procedures.
Monitor vital signs throughout procedures ensuring patient stability.
Manage and handle sedation medications and reversal agents as necessary.
Demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to potential complications during recovery.
Contribute to interdisciplinary teamwork to enhance patient outcomes.
Ensure accurate documentation of all procedures and patient interactions in the electronic health record.
Maintain a safe and sanitized environment in the procedure area.
Engage in continuous education to stay updated with best practices in nursing and sedation management.
