Description:
The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers.
They ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care.
The position supports a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and is structured by a shared governance model.
Practices are guided by a professional practice model and evidence-based research.
RN competencies are derived from these models and support core values.
All RN Clinical Nurses are expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the relevant Professional Nurse Practice Act.
The RN is responsible for implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards.
A focus on the voice of the patient and adherence to system policies is essential.
The RN must provide relationship-based patient-centered care that considers specific characteristics such as age and disease.
Collaboration with patients and significant others is essential in care delivery.
Evidence-based practices are used in the performance of clinical care.
Clinical outcomes are coordinated through effective partnerships.
Documentation of safe quality patient care is a priority, promoting clear interdisciplinary communication.
Teamwork is essential for fiscal responsibility and retention of healthcare team members.
Participation in performance improvement initiatives is expected.
Promotion of evidence-based practice and nursing research is vital.
The RN will support the efficient and effective use of resources.
Regular completion of professional competency assessments and education is required.
The role includes serving as a preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses.
Participation in protocol and procedure development is encouraged to achieve best practice outcomes.
The RN is expected to comply with all organizational policies and standards.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
