Job Title: RN II-Endoscopy (Mandatory Call) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: Rotating Shift Experience: One year GI experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required Must-Have: Current Epic experience Description: Responsible for working with Bronchoscopy, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedures. Monitors patients during procedures, recognizing alterations in physiological and psychological status. Provides recovery care for patients post-sedation. Utilizes knowledge of post-procedure complications and discharge criteria. Delivers clear and concise follow-up instructions to patients at discharge. Demonstrates understanding and interpretation of diagnostic measures, including lab tests and EKG interpretation. Utilizes professional nursing judgment to implement nursing care plans and resolve identified patient problems. Knowledgeable about equipment and supplies used for procedures, ensuring proper cleaning and handling. Practices infection control techniques. Ensures all equipment for GI procedures is properly set up. Demonstrates competency in endoscope manipulation techniques and knowledge of complications associated with endoscopy. Aids the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to promote optimal patient outcomes. Follows hospital policy for minimal and moderate sedation, including pre- and post-assessment. Completes physical and social history within 30 minutes after patient arrival. Identifies recurrent patient problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes using standards of care. Reviews medical history, nursing care plans, and all available assessment data. Accurately interprets ECG rhythms and manages care of patients during emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge of lead functions and application, making recommendations for optimal monitoring. Understands and follows organizational policies and procedures. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports it to the appropriate personnel. Recognizes symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team. Participates in the universal protocol time-out process for each patient. Consistently performs necessary safety and quality control checks within the unit. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
