Job Title: Endoscopy RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Endoscopy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (07:00 - 15:30) Experience: Minimum of 2 years required License: Valid state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, CGRN*, NIHSS* Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Trauma Level I experience preferred - Patient ratio experience required Description: The RN functions in a dual capacity, serving in the preoperative area and in the endoscopy suite. In the preoperative area, responsibilities include IV initiation, assessment, and patient education. In the endoscopy suite, the RN serves as a circulating nurse, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care. The patient ratios are 1:3 in preop and 1:1 as a circulator. This position requires floating between like units. The RN will be responsible for administering conscious sedation and managing airways. Procedures will include diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy. Common patient diagnoses include gastrointestinal disorders, GI bleeding, and suspected malignancy. Equipment used includes endoscopy video towers, scopes, electrosurgical units, and vital sign monitors. Interdisciplinary support is available, including respiratory services and pharmacy.
