Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Endoscopy Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Elmira, New York. This role is crucial for supporting a growing service line, including advanced GI procedures, across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The successful candidate will work closely with a new provider specializing in advanced gastrointestinal procedures, providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing complex endoscopic interventions such as ERCP, EMR, and EUS.
This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team, ensuring high-quality patient care, safety, and efficient procedural support within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status, both pre- and post-procedure.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for endoscopy patients, identifying and addressing patient and significant other learning needs.
- Provide skilled and consistent nursing care during advanced GI procedures, including ERCP, EMR, and EUS.
- Monitor patient vital signs, administer medications, and manage patient comfort and safety throughout the endoscopy experience.
- Respond effectively to emergency patient situations, following established protocols and informing appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and concise documentation in patient records.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Adhere to established standards of care, policies, and procedures, demonstrating sound clinical judgment.
- Provide age-appropriate care to all patients.
- Actively participate in staff development activities and maintain awareness of current nursing research to enhance practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as an Endoscopy Registered Nurse.
- Strong background and demonstrated experience in assisting with ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection), and EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) procedures.
- Ability to work with both outpatient and inpatient populations.
- Will consider Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurses with demonstrated Endoscopy training and/or experience.

Skills & Competencies
- **Clinical Skills:** Proficient in pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure assistance, and post-procedure recovery for advanced GI endoscopy procedures (ERCP, EMR, EUS). Competent in patient monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response.
- **Technical Skills:** Familiarity with endoscopy equipment and instrumentation.
- **Soft Skills:** Excellent communication (verbal and written), critical thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, teamwork, professionalism, accountability, and strong customer service orientation.

- Call Requirements: Required to take calls for Endoscopy.

Licensing Requirements
- Current New York State (NYS) Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligible for licensure.
