Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, providing exceptional patient care and support within the Endoscopy Unit.

Unit Overview

The Endoscopy Unit consists of 7 procedure rooms, with a mix of MAC (Monitored Anesthesia Care) and Conscious Sedation procedures. The unit operates weekdays and includes holding and recovery rooms, accommodating a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide high-quality care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures.
• Maintain and ensure proper setup of Olympus scopes and reprocessing equipment.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions pre-, intra-, and post-procedure to ensure safety and comfort.
• Document patient care and procedural notes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) using EPIC.
• Support the patient in conscious sedation and recovery phases, adhering to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• AHA ACLS Certification required.
• 2-3 years of nursing experience in Endoscopy or a related field preferred.
• Experience with GI Technician Endoscopy and Olympus scope setup is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support diverse patient needs.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. Shifts generally start at 7:15 AM and end at 3:45 PM, with a rotating day schedule that may include hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Additional Information

• Clinician to patient ratio is 1:1 in procedure rooms and 1:2-3 in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• The unit performs approximately 60-70 procedures daily.
• No floating to other departments is required.
• Rotating shifts may be necessary, as the department operates between 6:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
• SGNA or CBSPD certification is strongly preferred.
