Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) position involves providing direct support in the operating room during surgical procedures. This role requires expertise in assisting surgeons and other healthcare professionals in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing critical support and ensuring the overall success of the operation.
• Maintain a sterile environment and uphold safety protocols within the operating room.
• Coordinate with other healthcare staff for pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Monitor patients’ conditions and provide necessary interventions as needed.
• Document patient care and surgical procedures accurately in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA).
• Current CNOR certification is required.
• ACLS and BLS certifications must be in hand.
• Active Massachusetts state licensure is required. Conditional licenses will be accepted.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork.

Schedule

This position requires a night shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

The RNFA will also float to other areas as needed to meet the operational requirements of the department.
