Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality care across multiple medical-surgical telemetry units. This role includes actively monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering cardiac drips, and interpreting telemetry strips. The ideal candidate will possess experience in acute care hospital settings and demonstrate flexibility in floating to various units as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Float throughout the organization to various Med/Surg Telemetry areas, including multiple designated units.
• Monitor cardiac telemetry, measuring intervals, and interpreting telemetry strips every four hours.
• Administer cardiac drips while ensuring patient safety and care excellence.
• Provide nursing care for patients in the emergency department and acute mental health units, as well as non-vented patients ready for transfer from the ICU.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN License.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience.
• 2 years of experience working as a Traveler is preferred.

Patient Care Details

• Clinician to patient ratio is up to 5:1 during day and evening shifts; up to 6:1 during night shifts.
• Bed count: 371, with individual units ranging from 8 to 41 beds.

Rotation Requirements

This position will involve rotating shifts, with a mix of day/evening and night shifts during the contract period.

Charting System

The electronic medical record (EMR) system utilized is EPIC.

Additional Information

Free on-site parking is available for staff. Candidates should be adaptable and willing to provide care across multiple units as part of a flexible float pool team.
