Float Pool Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Description

This position involves floating throughout the hospital to various Med/Surg Tele areas. Responsibilities include providing care in multiple units, ensuring patient safety and comfort across different settings within the hospital.

Experience Required

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience in one location.
• 2 years of experience working as a Traveler.

Skills and Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and management of cardiac drips.
• Reading and interpreting telemetry strips every 4 hours.
• Experience with TR Band.

Patient Care Details

• Clinician to patient ratio: Days & Evenings up to 5:1, Nights up to 6:1.
• Patient population includes ED border patients, medication management in acute mental health, and care for non-ventilated patients ready for transfer from the ICU.
• Bed count: 371 with unit sizes ranging from 8 to 41 beds.

Work Schedule

• Rotating shifts: Days, Evenings, and Nights with 1 to 3 rotations to Nights per contract.
• Every other weekend (EOW) is required.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in using the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Certifications Required

• Active RN License in Massachusetts.
• AHA BLS certification.

• ACLS certification preferred.
