Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg/Tele Float Pool

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts on either day shift (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) or night shift (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Weekend requirement is every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday for both day and night shifts
• Work within the holiday rotation schedule alongside permanent staff
• Float pool position covering multiple units including 6N (36 beds), 7N (29 beds), 4N (36 beds), 5S (36 beds), 6S (36 beds), and Critical Care (20 beds)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are primarily 1:5-6 on most units for both days and nights, dependent on patient acuity
• Report to the clinical coordinator's office prior to shift start time for unit assignment
• Most likely to be assigned a parent unit and will care for basic telemetry patients within scope of practice
• Must be able to read and interpret cardiac monitor strips (Phillips monitors); most units have monitor techs available
• All travelers must take and pass a cardiac rhythm exam prior to starting
• Will not be required to titrate drips
• Common diagnoses include CHF, cardiac cath, chest pain, pneumonia, chronic renal disease, COPD, orthopedic, and oncology patients
• CNAs are available on all units
• Charge nurse available on every unit; day charge does not take patients, night charge does take patients
• CPAP and BiPap equipment on units managed by respiratory therapy
• Charting system is EPIC
• Royal blue scrubs required
• 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor provided
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week contract
• Required certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA)
• Must submit a copy of an unexpired driver's license with application (50-mile radius rule applies)

This Level 2 Trauma acute care facility operates a robust float pool program spanning multiple medical-surgical and telemetry units. The facility is equipped with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems and utilizes EPIC as its electronic health records platform. With CNAs supporting nursing staff across all units and respiratory therapy managing respiratory equipment, the organization is structured to provide comprehensive support to its clinical team while maintaining high standards of patient care.
