Job Summary: Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care in Iowa. This position involves providing advanced critical care to patients in a dedicated ICU setting, with a focus on managing complex conditions and implementing high-acuity interventions.
Job Details:
Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, starting at 7:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, and a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience.
Preferred Qualifications: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certifications.
Unit Notes: The ICU unit accommodates up to 6 beds, primarily for Cardiac Care Unit (CCU) level patients, with flexibility to care for Medical Surgical Pediatric patients as needed. Nurse-to-patient ratios goal 1:2, potentially up to 1:4 based on acuity. Capable of titrating various drips such as Cardizem, insulin, and norepinephrine. The charge nurse oversees both the MedSurg Pediatric and ICU sides, with support from the House Supervisor. RN staff monitor telemetry without monitor techs and are tasked with managing respiratory therapy equipment like CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and Hamilton vents. Positions require floating flexibility primarily within the hospitals Medical Surgical Pediatric side. The schedule involves 12-hour night shifts, with weekend and holiday requirements, and schedule accommodations considered.
