Neuro ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Dayton, Ohio

Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960
- Nursing Specialty: Neuro Intensive Care Unit (Neuro ICU)
- Employment Type: Travel Registered Nurse contract
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Start Date: October 19, 2026
- End Date: January 18, 2027
- Schedule: Night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; 36 hours per week
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and at least every other holiday
- Patient Population: Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
- Charting: Epic electronic medical record (EMR)
- Floating: Flexibility to float to medically appropriate assignments across nearby hospital campuses and units based on patient census and skill set
Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, including 2 years of Neuro ICU experience or experience in a comprehensive stroke center with neuro critical care exposure
- Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license eligible for practice in Ohio
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias
- Recent Epic inpatient charting experience
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and clinical judgment skills in a high-acuity ICU environment
- Willingness to float and care for patients outside the primary specialty when assignments are clinically appropriate
Neuro ICU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive critical care to patients experiencing ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, encephalopathy, neuromuscular disorders, brain and spinal tumors, respiratory failure, renal failure, and other complex conditions
- Manage patients requiring ventilator support, continuous IV sedation, vasoactive and cardiac drips, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and insulin protocols
- Monitor and care for patients with external ventricular drains, intracranial pressure monitoring, subdural or spinal drains, arterial lines, EEG monitoring, and other advanced critical care equipment
- Perform comprehensive neurological assessments, identify changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns promptly
- Provide post-neurosurgical and post-procedural care, including recovery following endoscopy, bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, G-tube placement, and other bedside procedures
- Administer medications and blood products, manage central and PICC lines, maintain infection-prevention standards, and interpret arterial blood gases
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation, social services, rapid response teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
