Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Baltimore, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized critical care for neurologically complex patients in a high-acuity environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills and experience in neuro ICU patient management, working within a team to deliver exceptional patient care during night shifts.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30)
- Schedule: Nights, 36 hours per week
- Certifications: Active Maryland RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications required; CPI and NIHSS preferred, neuro ICU experience highly preferred
- Experience: 0+ years required; candidates with 2+ years of neuro ICU experience and prior charge nurse experience are preferred
- Patient Ratios: 1:2, up to 3 patients with stable, lower acuity conditions
- Patient Demographics: Adults and geriatrics, with common diagnoses including acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, TBI, status epilepticus, brain tumors, cerebral edema, hydrocephalus, spinal cord injuries, neuromuscular disorders, CNS infections, post-craniotomy, and other critically ill neurological conditions
- Special Equipment: ICP monitors, external ventricular drains, continuous EEG, mechanical ventilators, arterial line monitoring systems, central venous catheters, infusion pumps, bedside ultrasound, telemetry, cooling devices for targeted temperature management, and specialty ICU beds
- Additional Responsibilities: Floating within the specialty, lower acuity patient coverage, holiday work as scheduled, and reporting every other weekend
- Start Date: 08/17/2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Other Details: The unit offers interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response teams, and unit secretary support. Candidates must be comfortable with complex neurological procedures and be able to adapt to dynamic clinical needs.
