ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join our team for a 20-week contract. The successful candidate will work 3x12 night shifts, from 1900 to 0700, with a weekend requirement of every third weekend. This is an excellent opportunity for first-time travelers to gain experience in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU setting.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform necessary interventions.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment and technologies, such as CRRT, IABP, and ceiling lifts.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement patient care plans.
• Document patient information and care provided using EPIC charting.
• Participate in floating to other areas within the specialty as required.

Patient Populations

The ICU Registered Nurse will work with a diverse range of patient diagnoses, including:

• Stroke
• Renal Failure (CRRT)
• Myocardial Infarction (MI) with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
• Respiratory Failure
• Pneumonia
• Post Cardiac Arrest
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Surgical ICU patients

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
• Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required.
• Proficient in the use of EPIC for patient charting.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies.

Equipment

The position requires familiarity with specialized equipment, including:

• Emergency carts (central line, universal critical airway, chest tube, temp pacer, bronch, chemo, and CRRT carts)
• Ceiling lifts for patient mobility and safety
