ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Mason, Ohio

Travel ICU RN Job Details

ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact-state eligibility
• Minimum of 3 years of recent ICU or critical care nursing experience required
• At least 2 years of experience in a similar-acuity travel nursing assignment
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Successful completion of a dysrhythmia examination
• Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients with complex, life-threatening conditions
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to float between ICU and progressive care areas as needed
• Local candidates are not eligible for this travel nursing assignment

Critical Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments of critically ill patients and develop individualized plans of care.
• Manage patients with cardiovascular conditions, respiratory failure, sepsis and septic shock, neurological conditions, postoperative complications, and metabolic or endocrine emergencies.
• Provide care using ventilators, CRRT, arterial lines, PICC lines, dialysis access, chest tubes, feeding tubes, urinary catheters, wound vacuums, and other critical care devices.
• Administer and monitor high-risk infusions, including vasopressors, sedation and analgesia, cardiac medications, insulin, heparin, paralytics, thrombolytics, sodium bicarbonate, and electrolyte replacement.
• Perform hemodynamic monitoring and care for patients with Swan-Ganz catheters.
• Assist with insertion and management of intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella devices, chest tubes, and temporary or transvenous pacing.
• Support advanced respiratory care, including noninvasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen, mechanical ventilation, inline suctioning, and ventilator weaning.
• Administer medications and treatments safely while evaluating patient response and revising the plan of care as needed.
• Recognize and respond decisively to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergency situations.
• Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, support staff, patients, and families to promote safe, compassionate, and effective outcomes.
• Provide patient and family education, emotional support, and advocacy throughout the continuum of care.
• Promote quality improvement, patient safety, infection prevention, privacy, and evidence-based nursing practice.
