ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Overview

An exciting opportunity for an experienced ICU Registered Nurse to join a dynamic nursing team in a fast-paced environment. The role involves providing critical care for patients in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU) combination unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients with critical and complex health conditions.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, performing necessary interventions.
• Titrate IV drips and manage medication administration per protocol.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist in the use of advanced technology and medical equipment such as ventilators and cooling systems.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding health care processes and discharge planning.
• Engage in professional development and maintain certifications related to critical care nursing.

Unit Information

• Combination unit with 16 ICU beds and 14 PCU beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios typically are 1:1-2 in ICU and 1:3 in PCU.
• Supportive team environment emphasizing collaboration and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience with thermaguard/Zoll cooling technology is essential.
• Must have experience using the EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.

Work Schedule

• Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM with occasional weekends as needed.
• Flexible scheduling with potential block scheduling based on unit needs.
• Rotation for holiday coverage may be necessary.

Support Staff

• CNA support with a typical ratio of 1 CNA for every 8 patients.
• Continuous availability of respiratory therapists in the unit.
• Telemetry technicians assist in monitoring patient vital signs and rhythms.
