RN - Whole House Float ICU/PCU/MS

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Whole House Float team, working across Intensive Care Units (ICU), Progressive Care Units (PCU), and Medical-Surgical (MS) units. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in all three specialties and has prior experience handling patient ratios of at least 1:5.

Schedule and Shift Details

• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM
• Floating: Staffing needs are reassessed every 4 hours, with potential floating 2-3 times per shift.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block.
• Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday during the contract.

Clinical Skills Required

• Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, central line care/management, and arterial line management.
• Experience in blood product administration, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway support (nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, chest tubes).
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, continuous IV sedation, and administration of emergency medications, including titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips.
• Minimum of 2 years’ ICU experience in a large Level 1 or Level 2 facility.

Requirements

• Licenses & Certifications: Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required.
• Accepts applicants with pending licenses as long as they hold a single-state license from a non-compact state. Active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license is necessary.

Unit Information

• ICU Average Ratio: 2:1
• PCU Average Ratio: 5:1
• MS Average Ratio: 6:1 (may flex up to 7:1)

Additional Information

All requests related to time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling must be included in the submission process. The facility reserves the right to call off one shift every two weeks as needed.
