Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Roanoke, Virginia.

Position: RN- Whole House Float ICU/PCU/MS Float (MUST be comfortable working ALL ICU, PCU, and MS units) *Please confirm traveler is comfortable with working all three specialties and has worked with ratios of at least 1:5.

SCHEDULING DETAILS

Contract Length/Shift Details: 3x12s, 645p-715a

Charting: EPIC experience required

Floating: Staffing needs are Re-evaluated every 4 hours, so traveler could float 2-3 times per shift (up to every 4 hours)

Weekend Requirement: May be EOW or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block

Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract

• Accept First-Time Travelers: Yes

• Locals Accepted? Yes. Refer to the Submittal Instructions for radius rule criteria

• RTO, Block & Special Scheduling Requests: ALL requests must be included with the submission

Call Off Policy: Facility is allowed to call off 1 shift per 2-weeks

REQUIRED LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS
=================================
• ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Pending License Accepted: Yes, only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state. Otherwise, submission must include an active Virginia State or Compact RN/LPN license

REQUIRED CLINICAL SKILLS
=========================
• Experienced in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line management, Central Line care/management, arterial line management, and blood product administration

• Skilled in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator management, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)

• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, Titrate Cardiac and vasoactive drips

• Background includes ICU experience (2 year +) from a Large L1/L2 facility

It is the region’s only Level I Trauma Center (Adult & Pediatrics), Magnet-designated for nursing excellence, and affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. #Tier2 Travel Compliance

  1. Please send all RTO up front with the submittal
  2. Please send a screenshot from your traveler confirming their commitment to starting on the date they are being submitted with.
  3. Active license required
  4. Travelers are required to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment with the exception of winter holidays where they are required to work 2 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, NYE/New Years).
  5. Compliance docs due Wednesday prior to Monday start
  6. Candidates who reside within 100 miles of the facility are considered local, Local candidates are not accepted.* 100 miles from the facility is calculated from the address listed on candidate's Driver's License only. No additional proof of residency will be accepted.
    • Exception: Inpatient RNs  Community Hospitals:  Travelers who live 50-99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend.
    • Exception: Inpatient RNs  Community Hospitals:  Travelers who live < 50 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment at lower bill rate with no eligibility to extend.
    • Exception: RRT (Neo/Peds) : Travelers who live 50-99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend.
  7. Return Travelers: Previous employees (both per diem and permanent) must be gone for a minimum of one year before returning to work as a traveler.
  8. Separation Policy (effective July 1, 2025): Facility does not allow travelers to return after they have worked on assignment for 365 days, despite any separation period.  Carilion leadership will review exceptions to this policy on a case by case basis.  *Note: Travelers that end prior to July 1st will be grandfathered under the previous one-year policy.  They will take a six-month break and can then reapply as a traveler, eligible for another full year.
  9. Modules:
    • Modules are non-billable if completed within first 24 hours of NBO, facility allows 5 hours for orientation modules and 2 hours for Epic for inpatient RNs.
    • Modules may be completed pre-start or during orientation, and hours vary based on specialty
    • Modules are recorded by facility report and paid upon receipt of approved hours from facility
