Critical Submission Guardrails (Hardstops)

Absolute Minimum Qualifications & Departmental Hardstops:

  • Licensure Mandate: Active, unencumbered Massachusetts State RN License held in hand at submission.
  • Experience Baseline: Minimum 1–2+ years of dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) RN experience in an acute care setting.
  • Core Certifications Required:
    • Active AHA BLS
    • Active AHA ACLS
  • Immunization Mandate: Candidate must have an active Flu Vaccine documentation prior to start.
  • Logistics Requirement: Traveler must bring personal vehicle/transportation for island commuting.

Job Summary & Clinical Scope

A Hospital in Oak Bluffs, MA is seeking a highly skilled Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (ICU RN) for an extended 26-week contract in the Critical Care ICU. Serving an isolated island environment, the ICU RN will manage critically ill patients requiring complex hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, and continuous titration of high-risk vasoactive drips.

  • Critical Care Management: Direct care for unstable medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU patients; monitor invasive lines (arterial lines, CVP) and titrate continuous intravenous drips (e.g., pressors, sedatives, inotropes).
  • Airway & Ventilator Management: Oversee ventilated patients, manage airway stabilization, coordinate ET tube care, and collaborate with Respiratory Therapy for weaning protocols.
  • Island Emergency Stabilization: Manage acute clinical stabilization and prep critical patients for air-ambulance or emergency marine transport to mainland tertiary care centers when higher-level interventions are required.
