Job Details:
• 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM or 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• Minimum of 2 holidays required within contract time frame
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3 for adult patients
• 33-bed ICU unit with an average daily census of 16 patients
• Common diagnoses include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• Required to titrate drips including cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• Required to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips using GE monitoring system with tele tech oversight
• Manage patients on equipment ranging from nasal cannula to ventilator
• May float to PCU or occasionally MedSurg with a ratio of 1:4 or 1:5
• Nurse aides available based on census for 1:1 sits or floor assistance
• Healthcare Support Tech available 3 days per week Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
• Self-scheduling for travelers added into core staff schedule; block scheduling not guaranteed
• If placed on call and called back in, must arrive within 30 minutes
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for assignments less than 13 weeks
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation provided; pass/fail open book exam with a minimum score of 90% required to pass
• RTO of 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Charting system: EPIC
• BSN not required
• Valid driver's license required at submittal
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Trauma Level 2 facility
• Candidate must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
Facility:
This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a comprehensive range of critical care services. The ICU operates with 33 beds and provides advanced care for patients with complex conditions including cardiac events, neurological emergencies, respiratory distress, and post-surgical recovery. The facility utilizes EPIC for charting and maintains a well-supported care environment with telemetry monitoring, respiratory therapy equipment, and ancillary support staff to assist the nursing team in delivering high-quality patient care.
