GHG Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with both day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) options available
• Weekend requirement every other weekend - shifts may fall on Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday depending on unit needs
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling allowed as long as unit needs are met; block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Rare on-call or standby requirement
• Patient ratios typically 1:2; CRRT/Organ Donation 1:1; may stretch to 1:3 with overflow/stepdown
• Must have at least 1 year of critical care experience; prior travel experience preferred
• Must be competent with CRRT, IABP, ventilators, post-code/therapeutic hypothermia, and skilled with all vasoactive medications, sedation, and paralytics
• Responsible for titrating all critical care drips within ordered parameters
• Responsible for performing care and removal of central lines
• Must be proficient with Phillips telemetry monitoring, interpretation, and admitting to the system
• Common diagnoses include sepsis, pneumonia, CHF, COPD, DKA, overdose, renal failure, neurosurgeries, general surgery, MI, and vascular patients
• Required to float to stepdown and med-surg as needed
• Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue; scrub jackets must be an actual scrub jacket - no hoodies or sweat-jackets
• Charting system: EPIC; must complete EPIC education before starting on the unit
• General education competencies must be completed before arrival to assignment
• 2 shifts of general/floor orientation provided
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Must submit an unexpired copy of candidate's driver's license with all submittals

Facility:

This acute care facility operates an 18-bed intensive care unit with all private rooms, each equipped with negative pressure capability. The unit is supported by a dedicated intensivist on-site from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily with residents, and hospitalist coverage overnight from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. A dedicated respiratory therapist is assigned to the ICU from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily, with RT coverage across all critical care during night hours. Additional support includes 1-2 patient care technicians depending on census, a pharmacist on the unit daily from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and remote telemetry technicians serving as backup monitoring.
